Hey there, how are you
doing? :)
I’ve just
been browsing the Internet for some of the most beautiful places I could ever
imagine – places anywhere in the world, from tiny cottages in the middle of the
Scottish nowhere to booming cities like Tokio to the most stunning beaches on
the Australian coast. Within seconds, I was assailed again by the desire to
travel! For me, it doesn’t matter much where I’m going as long as I’m going at
all, and I always find the time to. The only downside of traveling, as usual,
is money.
But then
again, I’ve got a solution for this problem, too: it’s airbnb!
The idea of
airbnb is a pretty easy one and it’s summed up quite nicely in this short video
(be careful, though, it’s an ad created by the organization itself and
therefore not very impartial):
Have you
heard of it before? It’s actually quite famous!
I’ve never
tried it out personally, but a friend of mine has (she went to NYC for ten days
and stayed with a host in Brooklyn; she was absolutely thrilled). Of course,
there are some disadvantages about airbnb. Like, you never know for sure
whether your host and their home really are the way they promise until you meet
them for the first time. On the other hand, as mentioned in the ad, airbnb
holds on to your payment until 24 hours after you have arrived at your host’s.
If the place is different from what it promised, they will arrange an
alternative for you.
I guess
being open to any kind of new experience helps a lot with this kind of traveling.
You shouldn’t be too shy about meeting others or be scared off just because
something doesn’t work out exactly the way you planned it. Personally, when I was
looking at those pictures today, I immediately knew: I caught the travel bug!
…oh and by
the way, as everybody is desperately searching for Christmas present ideas: a
trip (and an affordable one, too!) to Amsterdam or Paris or Prague or wherever might
make a nice present, don’t you think? ;)
Hey there. Your posts are just awesome. I love the way you write and your choice of topics. I really recommend airbnb as I tried it out once when I travelled to London. The only drawback is the fact that the room was actually smaller than it looked like on the website. However, it was a great experience and I would definitely do it again! :) Hope you gonna enjoy your next trip! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :D I'm happy to here that someone likes what I do (admittedly, I still feel a little awkward about this whole blogging thing ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat about your host? Were they nice? How long did you stay with them? Was there anything else except for the size of the room that you didn't like that much?
Sorry for asking all those questions, I'm just really curious because I definitely want to try it out soon!
